Confidence to Create: Two Brands, One Vision for Intentional Living

On a quiet stretch of land along Fruitville Road in East Sarasota County, Florida, a deeply personal project has unfolded over the past few years. It’s one that reflects a shared philosophy between two long standing Florida brands, Lee Wetherington Homes and PGT Custom Windows and Doors, part of the MITER Brands portfolio. Set on more than 30 acres of regenerative farmland known as Bee Lovely Farms, the custom home and accompanying barndominium, a residential building that combines the best architectural elements of a barn and a condominium, built by Lee Wetherington for himself and his wife Caroline, both embody a values-driven approach to building that’s rooted in intention, quality, and wellness.

A Shared Philosophy: Building with Intention

Lee Wetherington Homes and PGT Custom Windows and Doors are both Sarasota County born companies shaped by long-term thinking. For more than four decades, Lee Wetherington Homes has been recognized for craftsmanship, architectural distinction, and a belief that homes should endure not only structurally, but meaningfully, across generations.

PGT shares that same mindset, engineering windows and doors designed to protect, perform, and last in demanding coastal environments.

At Bee Lovely Farms, that philosophy takes physical form. Every decision, from the site placement to the materials and even the vegetables chosen for the garden, were guided by respect for the land, the people in the community who benefit from it, and the experiences the space would create over time.

A Shared Milestone: 45 Years of Building What Lasts

In 2026, both Lee Wetherington Homes and PGT Custom Windows and Doors are celebrating a meaningful milestone — 45 years of doing things the right way.

That parallel history is more than coincidence. It reflects two Florida-based companies that have grown by committing to craftsmanship, integrity, and long-term value.

For Lee Wetherington, building his personal home and barndominium using windows and glass to frame the expansive views of the property felt right.

“When I was choosing products for our home, I wanted partners who shared the same values my company has stood for over the last 45 years,” said Lee. “PGT has earned a longstanding reputation in our community for integrity, quality, and doing right by people. Their windows protect what matters during storms, improve energy efficiency, and at the same time, deliver a clean, modern design that frames the views instead of competing with them. That balance of performance and beauty is exactly what I believe in.”
