The History of PGT Innovations
As a part of the PGT Innovations (PGTI) family of brands, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our organization has led the market and pushed the industry forward for 40 years by striving to meet our customers’ needs with better, more advanced products. 1980: Company Founded
Paul Hostetler and Rod Hershberger open VinylTech in Venice, FL with three employees. Company name later changed to reflect growing product portfolio.
1987: Window Manufacturing
Company establishes Progressive Glass Technology (PGT®) to meet growing customer demand for superior-quality windows.
1992: Hurricane Andrew
The Category 5 hurricane hits Florida causing more than $25 billion in damage, and making it the worst hurricane to ever hit the state.
1993: Miami-Dade Protocols
PGT® works with Miami-Dade County to establish testing protocols for impact-resistant products.
1996: WinGuard® Launched
The WinGuard® product line is launched, making PGT the first manufacturer to offer a full suite of impact-resistant windows & doors.
